Letter from Chairperson
Namaste Delegates,
It is with great pleasure that I, Aarvee Mishra, the Chairperson of the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, welcome you all to the 11th iteration of the Shishukunj MUN.
Shishukunj MUN is where I started my MUN journey. There were times I did not particularly enjoy participating in MUNs; today, I hold each experience very close to my heart. Not because it has always been easy, but because each conference brought me a step closer to being the person I am today. It was more about what I learned than the number of awards I won. I found my passion for public speaking, empathy, the ability to communicate effectively, and a love for geopolitics through MUNs. The agenda of the UNCLOS committee is highly pertinent today, as the world is dependent on maritime activity. Let this conference be an opportunity for you all to devise solutions for real-world problems, think critically, listen to diverse opinions, make new friends and take away the best memories.

Agenda Description
This committee explores modern maritime threats that outpace traditional UNCLOS definitions. Technological advancements like autonomous AI-driven drones bypass conventional frameworks, leaving critical regulatory gaps. At vital chokepoints like the Strait of Hormuz, vulnerabilities include missile attacks, cyberthreats, and infrastructure sabotage, costing the global economy billions annually. Furthermore, maritime insecurity threatens global connectivity and causes severe environmental degradation, and we expect delegates to critically evaluate these vulnerabilities to propose innovative, enforceable regulatory frameworks.
