Allied Reconstruction Assembly (ARA)

Dear Delegates,
I, Arya Desai, welcome you to the 11th iteration of the Shishukunj Model United Nations as the
Chairperson of the Allied Reconstruction Assembly (ARA).
A little about me, because it's always nicer to know who's going to be 'wielding the gavel.'
History has an (un)fortunate habit of following me everywhere. When I'm not buried in a
historical novel, I'm usually writing one, wandering around archaeological sites wondering who
last held a potsherd, getting distracted by old maps, inscriptions and coins, or learning
languages. Somewhere in between, I also read an unreasonable amount, write poetry that is
way longer than it needs to be, travel whenever I can, attempt to play basketball, and hold
opinions that range from stubbornly centre-left on politics to VERY uncompromising on cinema,
music and the correct way to consume tea, coffee and chocolate. (Black. Always.)
I promise I'm considerably less serious than that paragraph made me sound.

Now, about the committee-
The Allied Reconstruction Assembly drops us into a world trying to find its feet after catastrophe.

You'll be rebuilding institutions, navigating uneasy alliances and deciding what justice, stability
and recovery should actually look like. It's the sort of committee where the smallest compromise
can reshape the biggest outcome, and where history isn't something to remember but
something to create.
So, whether this is your first MUN or you've long since stopped counting, I hope you arrive
curious, well researched and willing to surprise yourself.
Speak all the time, listen carefully and debate fervently. Carpe Diem!
And if you leave committee with new friends, fresh perspectives and one moment you'll still be
laughing about months later, I'd call that a success.
